Here’s a step-by-step guide starting a simple blog and to know about the Art of Blogging. If you want to share your thoughts by writing random stuffs you do in your daily life that could help others to resolve their problems or maybe taking a photo and have deep meaning that gives motivation to you, how about try to share it by blogging? This entity is for all, people have freedom to write and share their own opinion. Others heard about blogging through social media by running almost famous and well known person, also believing that this kind of entity is only for them. But, think about on how they became famous individuals? It’s because they’re already exposed and recognized by the people in their society.

Furthermore, this thing requires dedication and patience because surely you will encounter difficulties when you start on blogging. You will doubt of how to generate traffic, promote your blog and others. Don’t worry; you just need to focus in your goal, master your blog and steer on the right track.

Step 1:  Think about your Topic or Trademark
First, think and decide of what your blog is all about. Approximately trending niches today were about Tech, Gaming, Travels & Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Health Care, Photography and Fashion Blog. Choosing a topic is very hard the way we think of how to analyze carefully of getting unique and awesome brand. Sometimes we think over mixing niche that we want to implement in our blog. It’s good but we need to focus in one niche first to avoid halting ideas, it could be done after you have descent writings in your primary subject.

Step 2:  Getting your Ideal Blog Title
Things to remember in picking your blog title is choose label which is easy to remember. Think about that reader visits your blog with unnecessary characters; they might think that your blog is not well done or like a test page, then the tendency is losing your readers. You can also look for catchy words like “destroyer”, “mashable” and with your main keyword. For example: “Destroyer Panda”, sounds like Panda smashing something, it’s fun thing and good choice to make a unique symbol/identifier on your blog.

Step 3:  Choosing your Blogging Platform
Blogging platform is a service where it manages all your posts. It has a specific form which is called CMS (Content Management System).
Here are the top lists blogger platforms.
  • Wordpress.com
  • Blogger.com
  • Tumblr.com
Wordpress – the most famous and popular blogging system used by bloggers and almost 60 million websites are powered by this platform. This is free and Open Source CMS that coded in MySQL and PHP language.

Note that there are two kinds of Wordpress
  • wordpress.com – You can host your own blog for free, but with limitations in some features like plugins, templates and others. You need to pay to avail their package to unlock those configurations.
  • wordpress.org – This website offers to download “Wordpress” Software for free. Note that in wordpress.org offers only the software, not paid or free hosting on your blog. In this CMS you can use thousands of plugins and other amenities. Furthermore, good thing here, there’s no restriction in using this software, you can modify its source code.

Addition: wordpress.com is like a blogger but the difference between them is blogger offers fully functional and free service unlike wordpress.com you have limited rights on your blog.

Blogger – the safest blog to host because it manages by one of the most giant firm in the world, the Google. It is totally free both hosting and you can modify its source code. Also stress-free to setup because of its convenient services. I highly recommend this platform in starting a blog.

Steps in setting your blog
Register to blogger.com
Then click New Blog button on the left side
A pop up page will appear, Here you will input your Title, address of your blog, and choose any template.
Title – The topic of your blog, ex. “Citrus Photography”.
Address – the link to access your blog, if you want to put your title in your address, avoid too long words because it has an additional “.blogspot.com”. For example I choose “Citrus Photography”, the link will become “citrusphotography.blogspot.com”. It will be hard to type, instead choose simple words to lessen some characters.
Template – the default free designs offered by blogger. You can choose anything you want. I preferred the light and cool colors because it will give chill effects in the perception of your readers.

Tumblr – A microblogging platform that function as a social site. This platform is more focused on the personal experience of the user. The catch here is the UI design of its platform and easy reblog function. Almost teenagers are using tumblr as their personal diary.

Addition: You can transfer your whole blog in another Platform so don’t rush or think. Almost blogger platforms have an awesome feature that allows changing the template in just few clicks.

Step 4:  Designing Your Blog
One of the most fun things to do is designing a template. It’s like making your own painting by using different resources like for example inserting tricks in your template, like HTML and CSS Snippets. Sample is the button that placed in the bottom right of a template; the function is when user clicks it, the page will automatically scroll on the top of your page, no need to drag the scroll on the right. In choosing a template, remember that your template design must relate to your ideas and personality; also match to your blog niche and ensures that your design relates and reflects in your theme.

That’s all, I’m sure that you have an idea of how to set-up a blog. It’s up to you if you will try it or not. You don’t know what possibly will happen if you start a blog. Visualize that you’re sitting on a couch, holding your preferable coffee, drinks or whatsoever and writing your own expression through your ideas. It might change your life in that simple decision. Blogging is fun; learning on blogging is an adventure that waits to explore its own creation.

If you have a problems regarding on how to set up, let me know by dropping a comment. Best regards to your blogger journey.
